DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Flyers men's basketball team will be seen on television a record 29 times during the 2013-14 regular season.
UD will have 29 of its 31 regular season games televised nationally or regionally during the regular-season, with the likely addition of the away game versus St. Bonaventure. The landmark package represents the most televised games in a regular season for the Flyers.
Dayton's television schedule is highlighted by a school-record 15 regular-season games on national television. The Flyers will play eight games on the ESPN family of networks, five on CBS Sports Network and two on NBC Sports Network. The remaining Flyer games will be shown regionally on FOX Sports Ohio and locally on WHIO-TV and a third partner to be announced once the agreement is complete.
The television appetite for Flyer basketball is no surprise. Last season, the Dayton television market was the eighth-best in the country when it comes to ESPN college basketball for the second straight year, according to research analyzed by ESPN. ESPN examined the 56 metered markets that carried college basketball games in 2012-13, and ranked them by ratings.
This was the 11th year ESPN compiled the data and Dayton has always been in the top 14 markets. The Dayton area has been in the top 10 three straight years and four of the last six.
"Our television audience is one of the best in the NCAA," said UD Vice President and Director of Athletics
Tim Wabler. "Our games deliver ratings and viewership that is very attractive to our television partners."
The combination of strong local, regional and national coverage is exciting for the Flyer Faithful.
Locally, UD will also continue its long-standing local television package with WHIO-TV, a partnership that dates back to the 1951-52 season. WHIO-TV is the No. 1 CBS affiliate in the country.
WHIO-TV will air six games this season. Negotiations for WHIO-TV to secure broadcast rights locally to other away games are ongoing.
Regionally, FOX Sports Ohio reaches over five million households in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, western Pennsylvania, western New York, and West Virginia.
FOX Sports Ohio televised the home opener on Saturday, Nov. 9 against IPFW. FOX Sports Ohio will also televise the following contests: St. Francis Brooklyn (Nov. 16), Delaware State (Dec. 4), Murray State (Dec. 29) and Winthrop (Jan. 1).
The games against Central Michigan (Dec. 14), USC (Dec. 22), Fordham (Jan. 15) and Rhode Island (Feb. 12) will also air on SportsNet New York (SNY) as part of the Atlantic 10 television package. SNY reaches more than 13 million homes throughout its footprint, including the New York City metropolitan area and upstate New York.
The Flyers will also be shown on Comcast Sports South during the Ole Miss game and throughout the Chicagoland area on Comcast SportsNet Chicago with the Illinois State contest.
Television outlets listed as TBA will be picked up by a local provider announced at a later date once details are finalized.

DaytonFlyers.com and the Atlantic 10 digital network will have at least three Flyer home games to live video stream for free to users.
The Saint Francis University home game was streamed, and the remaining home games that will be live video streamed are Saint Joseph's (Jan. 29) and Richmond (March 8).
Any home games that are nationally televised on the ESPN family of networks, CBS Sports Network and NBC Sports Network cannot be live video streamed due to national broadcast contracts. In addition, any Flyer games televised on FOX Sports Ohio or SNY will not be live video streamed due to television agreements.
