LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has recognized three University of Dayton volleyball players along with head coach
Tim Horsmon in its Division I All-Regional Awards as announced Tuesday, Dec. 9. Senior
Isolde Hannan and junior
Alaina Turner were named to the Midwest All-Region Team while freshman
Jane Emmenecker earned Honorable Mention accolades. Horsmon was named the Midwest Region's Coach of the Year.
An Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team honoree, Hannan finished her career at Dayton ranked third all-time with 475 career assisted blocks. This season she was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3 and A-10 Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 10. Hannan ranked second in the league and 21st nationally with a .395 hitting percentage while also ranking 37th nationally with 145 total blocks in 2014. Her 1.15 blocks/set led the Flyers and was fifth in the A-10.
The 2014 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team member,
Alaina Turner finished the season first in the A-10 and 30th nationally in kills/set with 4.26, she also led the league and ranked sixth nationally with 0.50 aces/set and her 5.09 points/set were tops in the A-10 and 16th in the NCAA. With her 30 kills against American in the NCAA Tournament First Round, Turner reached the 1,000 kill mark for her career and her 558 kills this season rank fourth-most in the Dayton record book.
The Atlantic 10's Setter of the Year and All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team member,
Jane Emmenecker lead the league and ranked 23rd nationally with 11.15 assists/set in 2014. She was four times voted the A-10 Rookie of the Week this season and her 1,461 assists equaled the fifth-most in a single season in the Flyer record book and ranked third-most among 150 players ranked by the NCAA.
The 2014 A-10 Coach of the Year,
Tim Horsmon picks up his second AVCA Regional Coach of the Year honor - he was named the Northeast Region Coach of the Year in 2007 (his last season at Dayton before heading to Maryland). Horsmon led the Flyers to 30 wins this season, the most in the Atlantic 10, and a 2014 A-10 Regular Season and Tournament title.
The AVCA will announce its All-American Teams on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
