SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The University of Dayton softball team dropped its last two games of the UC Santa Barbara Gaucho Classic Sunday at UCSB's Campus Diamond. No. 11 Texas A&M defeated UD, 7-1, while CSU Bakersfield bested the Flyers, 4-1, in the nightcap. Senior Jordan Jennings went 3-for-6 on the day to lead the Flyers offensively while junior Kayla English tossed a complete game for UD.
Senior Kasi Vazquez and junior Tiffany Ricks each belted out a home run, accounting for each of the Flyers' runs on the day.
Dayton (0-5) will return to action Feb. 21-23 after a week-long hiatus when it travels to Nashville, Tenn., to participate in the Tennessee State Tiger Classic.

Texas A&M (5-0) put up runs in the second and third inning but the Flyers answered with a two-out solo home run in the fourth from senior Kasi Vazquez to cut the lead to one, 2-1. The Aggies got their offense going in the sixth with a five-run frame off five hits, including a bases-loaded triple, to set the score at 7-1 in favor of A&M.
The Flyers threatened in the bottom of the sixth, moving a runner over to third, but the Aggie defense squashed the rally and 7-1 proved to be the final margin. Jennings tallied two hits in the contest to lead the Flyers.
Sophomore Emily Froment (0-2) was charged with the loss in the circle for the Flyers after throwing 5.1 innings, striking out three and walking one while giving up five earned runs. Freshman Gabrielle Snyder closed out the game for Dayton, tossing 1.2 innings.
Donnell (1-0) picked up the win for the Aggies, throwing five innings. Davenport and Ainsley each tossed an inning as well.

Bakersfield (2-3) led off with a double and the runner scored on a sacrifice bunt to give CSUB an early 1-0 lead over Dayton. A three-run third inning for the Roadrunners set the score at 4-0 in favor of Bakersfield but Dayton got a run back on the top of the fourth with Ricks' long-ball over the center field fence. That would be the end of the scoring for both teams as the 'Runners held on for the 4-1 win over the Flyers.
English (0-2) tossed a complete game for the Flyers, recording a loss in the circle. She put in six innings of work, striking out four to zero walks and giving up one earned run on seven hits.
Klimenko (1-2) was the winning pitcher for Bakersfield, throwing five innings ans striking out three while giving up one earned run on five hits. Raeber (2) was credited with the save after tossing the final two frames of the contest.
