Boston – Recently graduated University of Dayton forward
Devin Oliver has been signed by the Boston Celtics to play in their entry in the NBA Orlando Summer League. The league runs July 5-11.
Oliver led the University of Dayton to an Elite Eight appearance as a senior co-captain in 2013-14. The versatile left-handed forward led the Flyers in minutes (29.9), rebounding (7.4) and assists (2.3), and was second in scoring (11.2). He also shot .484 (149-308) from the field, .396 (42-106) from three-point range and .763 (100-131) from the line.
He was also named UD's Chris Daniels Memorial Most Improved Player, earning him the distinction of being the first two-time Most Improved Player and the only Flyer to be named MVP and Most Improved Player in the same season.
Oliver was named Third Team All-Atlantic 10 and to the EA Sports Maui Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Also on the team is a very familiar face. Former Flyer teammate Chris Johnson, a 2012 UD grad, is a shooting guard who signed with Boston last season after serving two 10-day contracts with the club.
Both of the Celtics' first-round draft choices – Marcus Smart of Oklahoma State and James Young of Kentucky – are also on the team.
Boston's first game is July 5 against Oklahoma City. All games are televised on NBA TV.
