Deane Led All Scorers with a career-high 29 Points

ESTERO, Fla. - In the third-place game of the 2015 Gulf Coast Showcase, the Dayton women's basketball team flew past #22 Louisville, 79-66, behind the strength of a career-high 29 points from senior Amber Deane. The Flyers improve to 5-1 on the year while the Cardinals fall to 1-4.

GAME BREAKDOWN
• 1Q: Louisville controlled the first quarter, going ahead by as 12 points, but Dayton was able to cut it to seven, 16-9, after a 5-0 spurt. The Cardinals were up nine, 18-9, after the first 10 minutes.
• 2Q: Dayton opened the second frame with a three-point basket from freshman Lauren Cannatelli but Louisville answered with a 6-0 run to hold the 24-12 advantage. The Flyers then proceeded to score 13 unanswered points capped by a long ball from Deane to take their first lead of the contest at 25-24. The two squads were knotted at 28 entering halftime.
• 3Q: The third period was a battle from start to finish with six ties and neither team able to get ahead more than four points. Two made free throws by Deane gave the Flyers the one-point lead and junior Saicha Grant-Allen ended the quarter with a layup to put UD up three, 46-43, heading into the final 10 minutes.
• 4Q: The Flyers never relinquished the lead and was up as many as 16 in the final period. Deane made all eight of her attempts from the free throw line and she scored the team's final two points of that game as Dayton cruised to a 13-point win over Louisville.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Deane led all scorers with a career-high 29 points. She was 8-for-12 from the field and a perfect 11-for-11 from the line in addition to six rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block.
• Senior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova had seven rebounds, five blocks, four steals and four points in an all around game for UD. Grant-Allen grabbed a game-high-tying eight rebounds and was one of three in double-figures scoring with 11 points.
• Senior Kelley Austria contributed 18 points om 7-of-12 shooting and Cannatelli chipped in seven points and swatted two steals.
• Louisville was led by Mariya Moore with 23 points while Myisha Hines-Ward had 20 points and eight rebounds.

KEY STATS
• Dayton out-shot Louisville, 42.2 percent to 38.0 percent, and the Flyers were an impressive 19-for-21 (90.5) from the line while the Cardinals went 24-for-36 (66.7).
• UofL won the battle of the boards, 38-34, and the teams committed a combined 51 fouls in the contest.

UP NEXT
Dayton continues its five-game road swing on Wednesday morning with a trip to Toledo for the Rockets' School Day game. The game is set to tip off at 11 a.m.
