DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton volleyball head coach Tim Horsmon has announced the addition of seven incoming freshmen to his 2015 roster. Kendyll Brown (Mechanicsville, Virginia/ Lee-Davis), Lauren Bruns (Versailles, Ohio/Versailles), Katie Machi (Milwaukee, Wisconsin/Divine Savior Holy Angels), Lizzie Machi (Milwaukee, Wisconsin/Divine Savior Holy Angels), Bri Pittman (Burgaw, North Carolina/Pender), Brittany Reynolds (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) and Margo Wolf (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) have committed to playing for the Flyers this coming fall.

These seven incoming freshmen will join Clemson transfer Megan Giardina as first-year members of the Dayton volleyball squad in 2015.

Kendyll Brown, a 6-1 middle blocker, is an All-Metro, All-Conference and All-Region Player of the year at Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Va. She led her team this past season with 284 total kills and 3.2 kills/set. "Kendyll gives immediate help in the middle position that we really need moving into next year," commented Horsmon. "We love both Kendyll's athleticism and passion for the game. She has a big personality and will be a lot of fun as a teammate and player. Kendyll is highly competitive on the court and in the classroom. I think our fans will love how hard she plays and how invested she will be in making our program one of the best in the A-10 and nationally."

Lauren Bruns, 6-1 outside hitter, helped lead her team to an Ohio State Championship her junior season and an appearance in the state semifinals her senior year. During her final season at Versailles, Bruns set a new single-season kills record (449) and single-season attack attempts record (995) and was named to the All-Ohio First Team. "Lauren is a very talented and athletic outside hitter who has a big upside," said Horsmon. "Lauren is a terminal attacker who plays high and has a great feel for scoring. We're really excited in how she has progressed this spring with her ball control, which I think is the last piece for her to be college ready."

Katie Machi, a 5-7 setter, is part of a twin-sister duo that will be joining the team next season. She helped lead Divine Savior Holy Angels to a Wisconsin State Championship this past fall while recording 630 assists and 265 digs during her senior season. "Katie is just a really good volleyball player," Horsmon noted. "She really impressed us last year at camp and was very unassuming but so efficient in everything she did. She looks as though she's played her whole life and has such a natural knack for the game. Katie will train as a setter but could also help us as a defender and serve receiver. She immediately makes our team better in all of the things she can do."

Lizzie Machi is the second half of the duo, a 5-7 defensive specialist for Divine Savior Holy Angels. Also a member of the 2014 Wisconsin State Champions squad, she led the team in digs (422) and recorded 10 double-doubles her senior year. "Lizzie also caught us off guard last summer at camp and each day seemed to get better and better," remarked Horsmon. "Lizzie makes all of the plays she's supposed to but does some things that you just don't expect her to make as well. Much like Katie, she makes the game look easy and has a great feel for the game in general. Lizzie will train as a back row defender and passer but also has a great jump serve that will create problems for opposing teams."

Bri Pittman, a 6-5 middle blocker, will provide height at the net for the Flyers after setting new school records for Pender High School in kills/set, total blocks and blocking percentage. A four-time conference champion with Pender, Pittman was named the 2013 Pender County Player of the Year. "Bri will bring a great deal of length and physicality to our team as an attacker and elite blocker," Horsmon commented. "We began following her prep career two years ago and have been really impressed with the progress she's already made from her skill set to her presence on the court. Bri is still learning the game but touches 10-7 and whose upside is immense. She could be a player that could impact a match in any conference in the country and will be a lot of fun to see her growth through her time in a Flyer uniform. Bri is also already achieved great things in the classroom which we love."

Brittany Reynolds, a 6-0 middle blocker, was part of a Gahanna Lincoln squad that made two All-Ohio district runner-p finishes. She holds her high school's records for kills in a season and a career and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Reynolds was named to the Division 1 All-District First Team as well. In addition to her work on the volleyball court, she also was National Merit Scholar, member of the National Honor Society, a four-year recipient of Lincoln's Academic Excellence Award and was a first-chair violinist in her school's orchestra. A member of the Columbus Volleyball Academy, Reynolds helped lead her club team to back-to-back appearances at GJNCs. "Brittany is a strong and dynamic athlete," said Horsmon. "She will be able to play all three front row positions and give us some immediate depth particularly in the middle. She is an outstanding student and will be a great fit for our program."

Margo Wolf, a 5-8 libero, helped lead Cincinnati's Mount Notre Dame to a 102-11 record over her four seasons including three Ohio State Championship titles. She was named to the Volleyball Magazine High School All-America First Team, an AVCA/Under Armour Third Team All-American and the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year this past season. "Margo could turn out to be one of the best liberos in the country and will immediately compete for time and make us a better defensive and serve-receive team," Horsmon said. "Margo plays with a poise and confidence that's really fun to watch. She comes from a great high school and club program and knows how to win. She may be one of the most natural receivers of serve that I've seen at her level, which I think will make her special. She's already been recognized as the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year which I believe is just the beginning of many accolades yet to come."
