DAYTON BASEBALL REFLECTS ON HONORARY FLYER CAMERON NEAL

DAYTON, Ohio – Cameron Neal had a tremendous impact on the Dayton Baseball program as a whole and on the individuals that had the chance to spend time with him.

Back in 2013, an 11-year old boy from Dayton, Ohio signed a Letter of Intent to be an Honorary Member of the Flyer Baseball Team. Through the partnership of the Friends of Jaclyn Organization, the University of Dayton Baseball Team adopted Cameron as he was battling a brain tumor.

On Monday, Cameron lost that battle, but his memory and impact will carry on forever.

"Forty members of our baseball team were supposed to enhance the quality of life for Cameron," stated Head Coach Tony Vittorio. "Well, it didn't take long at all to understand that, as we were trying to enhance one life, Cameron was enhancing 40 lives. As we grieve, it is more important for us to celebrate Cameron Neal's life.  This is what Cameron would want us to do."

Whether it was cheering on the Flyers from the dugout or hanging out in the clubhouse before a game or practice, Cameron spent as much time as he could with his friends on the baseball team. He even had his own locker in the locker room next to the rest of the team.

Cameron and his family were brought into the Flyer Baseball Program just as if they were any other player and his family. Cameron was each and every member of the baseball program's teammate.

The Dayton Baseball Program has announced that it will dedicate the upcoming 2016 season in honor of Cameron and his No. 10 jersey will be with the team throughout the season.

For those who would like to support Cameron and his family, a visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17 between 4-8 p.m. at St. Helen's Church in Dayton. The service will be Friday at 11 a.m.
