NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - For the third straight year, the University of Dayton men's basketball team will play a record number of nationally-televised games in the 2015-16 regular season.
The Flyers will play a school-record 21 contests on national television in 2015-16, matching last year's total.
This news, along with the full Atlantic Conference schedule, was announced today by the University and the A-10.
Counting three games in the AdvoCare Invitational, Dayton will play eight games on the ESPN family of networks and CBS Sports Network, three on NBC Sports Network and two on the American Sports Network.
In addition, every game of the A-10 Men's Basketball Championship (March 9-13) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn will also be nationally televised. The championship game will be televised by CBS for the seventh consecutive year.
The Flyers' "ESPN season" will begin with the ESPN Tip-Off Marathon as UD hosts Alabama on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. ET. The next set of games on the ESPN networks will take place at the AdvoCare Invitational during Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 26, 27 & 29). All 12 games of the tournament will be broadcast on ESPN2, ESPNU or Watch ESPN.
UD will also appear on one of the ESPN networks at Vanderbilt (Dec. 9, ESPNU), vs. George Washington (Jan. 15, ESPN2), at Rhode Island (Feb. 12, ESPN2) and home against Rhode Island (Feb. 27, ESPN2).
CBS Sports Network will carry the Dayton games vs. Arkansas (Dec. 30), vs. Massachusetts (Jan. 6), vs. Davidson (Jan. 12), at Fordham (Jan. 24), at Saint Joseph's (Feb. 17), at Saint Louis (Feb. 23), at Richmond (March 1) and vs. VCU (Mar. 5).
Dayton will open the A-10 season on the road against Duquesne on Saturday, Jan. 2. That game will be televised on NBC Sports Network. Other NBCSN Sports games are vs. La Salle (Jan. 30) and vs. St. Bonaventure (Feb. 20).
The Flyers' two ASN games are at St. Bonaventure (Jan. 19) and vs. Duquesne (Feb. 9).
Dayton is a part of a record 107 national television games that highlight the 2015-16 Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball TV package.
The TV package features 77 conference games, plus all 13 games of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship and 17 non-conference matchups via the league's four media partners. This will mark the third year of the A-10's eight-year media television partnerships with ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBCSN and the first year of a new multi-year agreement with American Sports Network (ASN).
UD also announced its preseason exhibition game for 2015-16. It will be against Saginaw Valley State at UD Arena on Saturday, Nov. 7. Game time is 2 p.m. ET.
A complete Flyer television schedule will be announced at a later date, along with all game times.
Dayton was 27-9 and advanced to the Third Round of the NCAA tournament last season. UD has won 53 games in the last two seasons, including five NCAA tournament games.
The Flyers return four starters -senior
Dyshawn Pierre, and juniors
Kyle Davis,
Kendall Pollard and
Scoochie Smith -- and eight letterwinners. The quartet will serve as UD's 2015-16 co-captains.
