DAYTON SIGNS THREE-GAME CONTRACT WITH CONNECTICUT

Flyers Will Play at Huskies in 2016-17

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton women's basketball head coach Jim Jabir has announced an agreement with Connecticut head coach Geno Auriemma for a three-game contract between the two programs beginning with the 2016-17 season.

"Playing Connecticut is a logical step for us," commented Jabir. "We want to challenge ourselves and play against the best teams in the country. In the last three or four years, our RPI has been really strong which has helped us in the NCAA Tournament and we want to continue that trend. Hopefully we can represent Dayton and our University well and continue to improve our program."

The Flyers will travel to Storrs, Conn., to square off against the 10-time national champion Huskies during the upcoming 2016-17 season to open the three-game series. The remaining two games will be a home-and-away to be determined for 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Dayton matched-up against Connecticut in the 2015 NCAA Albany Regional Final and led the Huskies, 44-43, at the half - the first time Connecticut had given up a halftime lead in an NCAA Tournament game. UD fell to eventual national championship UConn, 91-70, in the Flyers' first-ever NCAA Elite Eight appearance.
