DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's basketball team played its annual Red-Blue Scrimmage on Saturday to showcase the team for the upcoming season.

Shauna Green in her first public scrimmage in charge and a glimpse of what the style of play will be this upcoming season.
The format was three eight-minute periods with players switching teams after each period. It was the first look for the 2016-17 Flyers, who had a successful scrimmage overall.
BREAKDOWN
- 1st Period – Blue outscored Red, 16-14 – Sophomore Lauren Cannatelli led all scorers with eight points on 2-of-3 shooting from three-point range. Sophomore Ashleigh Parkinson scored six points and grabbed three rebounds for the red squad while junior Jenna Burdette chipped in four points and three assists.
- 2nd Period – Red outscored Blue, 17-7 – Burdette doubled her point total to eight while senior Saicha Grant-Allen contributed five rebounds and two blocks. The Blue squad went cold after shooting 21% from the field and 17% from three-point range, thanks to a strong Red defensive effort.
- 3rd Period – Blue outscored Red, 6-4- Blue rallied back in the third period, but it was not enough as Red held on for the 35-29 victory.
KEY STATS
- Red shot 35.9% from the floor with Blue shooting 33.3%.
- Cannatelli led all scorers with nine points.
- Burdette recorded eight points and five assists as well.
- Grant-Allen finished with a game-high eight rebounds.
- Senior Andi Cvitkovich added six boards and six points to the effort for Blue.
UP NEXT
- The Flyers will open the preseason on Nov. 6 with a home exhibition against Grand Valley State. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. at UD Arena.
