RICHMOND, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its women's basketball preseason poll as part of media day on Tuesday, with University of Dayton picked to finish second in the A-10 this upcoming season.

With 166 points, the Flyers tied with Duquesne to finish runner-up to A-10 preseason favorite Saint Louis, who had 191 points and nine first-place votes. Duquesne received three first-place votes while George Washington received two votes.

Dayton, led by first-year head coach Shauna Green, was picked to finish ahead of George Washington (No. 4), VCU (No. 5), and Fordham (No. 6).

Individual awards were also given out with a trio of Flyers being recognized ahead of the upcoming season. Junior guard Jenna Burdette was named First Team All-Conference after averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 assists per game last season. Senior guard Kelley Austria earned Second Team All-Conference and All-Defensive team honors, following an injury-shortened season in which she scored 10.4 points per game and recorded 2.6 steals per game. Fellow senior center Saicha Grant-Allen rounded out the accolades, earning Third Team All-Conference honors. The Ontario native scored 11.1 points each contest and grabbed 8.9 boards per game.

Across the four preseason teams, Dayton led the way with four honors. Duquesne and George Washington both had three awards each.

The 2016-17 season gets underway on Sunday, Nov. 6 with an exhibition against Grand Valley State at home at 2 p.m. The regular season begins the following Sunday against Quinnipiac at UD Arena at 2 p.m.

The Atlantic 10 season starts early this year with the Flyers hosting La Salle on Dec. 4. The league slate picks back up on Dec. 31 at home against Massachusetts.

With a new format this season, the A-10 Tournament will begin on Feb. 25 and 26 with first round games being played on campus sites. The rest of the tournament will take place at the Richmond Coliseum in Virginia March 3-5.
