NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its women's basketball weekly awards Monday and recognized University of Dayton freshman
Jayla Scaife as Co-Rookie of the Week.
Scaife scored in double figures in both of her outings last week, guiding the Flyers to a 19-point win at Wisconsin and an overtime victory at Princeton.
The freshman from Muncie, Ind. scored 15 points and chipped in an assist, a rebound, and a block against the Badgers on Wednesday. Scaife followed that up with her first collegiate double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. She also contributed on the defensive end with two blocks and two steals in the six-point win over the Tigers.
Scaife shared the Rookie of the Week honors with Duquesne's Nina Aho while her teammate Chassidy Omogross earned A-10 Player of the Week honors.
The Flyers return to action Tuesday at defending national champion Connecticut.
