NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Dayton freshman Jamie Peterson was selected as the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week.

All awards, presented by Come Ready Nutrition, were for matches played Sept. 19-25. This is the third weekly award this season for Peterson, an outside hitter from West Liberty, Ohio.

Peterson led the Flyers to a 2-0 opening weekend in conference play, posting back-to-back double-digit kill matches. In Friday's match against George Washington, Peterson recorded 13 kills to go with two blocks. She followed up that performance on Sunday with a career-high 16 kills, three blocks, and three digs against George Mason. For the week, Peterson hit at .480 while averaging 3.62 kills per set, scoring 3.94 points per set.

The Flyers are set to travel to St. Louis for a 2 p.m. conference match-up against Saint Louis on Saturday, Oct. 1.
