LEXINGTON, Ky. - University of Dayton volleyball assistant coach
Evan Muys has been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as a 2017 Thirty Under 30 Award winner.
This award was created in 2009 to honor up-and-coming coaching talent at all levels of the sport. To qualify for the award, nominees had to be 30 years old or younger in 2016.
Over the last three years, Muys has had a direct impact on the success of the Dayton volleyball program. Since the 2014 season, he has coached and mentored players to two AVCA All-American, six AVCA All-Region, two Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, three A-10 Setter of the Year, three A-10 Libero of the Year, and 13 All-Conference awards. The team finished the 2015 campaign #22 in the final RPI poll.

In 2016, he led the offensive attack that saw the Flyers rank 10th
nationally in both attack percentage (.277) and kills per set (14.39). Two players also ranked in the top 10 in individual percentage, No. 2 and No. 7 at .431 and .423 respectively. The 2016 team ranked as high as #22 in the AVCA poll.

Muys' efforts both on and off the court have led to three-consecutive A-10 Regular Season and Tournament Championships, and three consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament. The 2014-2016 teams have combined for an 87-14 overall record and 41-1 mark in A-10 play.

In addition to on-court success, Muys assisted in bringing the highest-ever #17 ranked recruiting class to Dayton as selected by PrepVolleyball.com.
