Atlantic 10 Announces Women’s Basketball Pairings

The Flyers Will Play Fordham, George Washington, and Saint Louis Twice

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its pairings for the 2017-18 women's basketball season Thursday morning.

Dayton will play Fordham, George Washington, and Saint Louis both at home and on the road. Last season, George Washington finished 13-3 in A-10 play, sharing the regular season title with the Flyers, while Saint Louis finished third at 12-4 and Fordham finished fifth at 11-5.

The Flyers will also host Duquesne, George Mason, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, and VCU at the newly renovated UD Arena.

Dayton will head to the road to take on Davidson, La Salle, Massachusetts, Richmond, and Saint Joseph's.

"I am excited about our conference pairings and the challenge it presents to us," said Dayton head coach Shauna Green. "The league as always will be a grind and every game is going to be a battle. We will be tested having to play GW, Saint Louis, and Fordham twice. We can't wait to start this year's journey in a couple weeks."

The Flyers will look to defend their regular season and tournament titles this season as they face a grueling schedule. UD finished the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 22-10 and a 13-3 mark in A-10 play. After an early December loss to La Salle, the Flyers went on a tear, winning the next 11 conference games.

Last season, the Flyers ranked 44th overall in average attendance with 2,674 per game and led the Atlantic 10 in total attendance and average fans per game.

The dates and times of the 2017-18 women's basketball schedule will be announced at a later date. The Atlantic 10 Championship will return to the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va. on March 2-4.
