NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton junior goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The award is for matches played Sept. 18-24. She was also earned A-10 Defensive honors last week. 

Johns, a Downingtown, Pa. product, posted back-to-back shutouts last week, moving her streak to four consecutive shutouts. She has six on the season to tie her career high. 

Johns posted a career-high 10 saves in UD's 0-0 double overtime tie at VCU, good for second all-time at UD in a single match. VCU is currently the third-leading team in the A-10 with 18 goals this season.

She backed that up with an eight-save, 2-0 shutout performance in Dayton's A-10 conference home opener against George Mason on Sunday. The Patriots came into the match as the third-highest scoring team in the conference with 16 goals this season.
