DAYTON – The University of Dayton Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes, in conjunction with the Office of the Provost, held its 12th annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Reception Monday evening. The event recognizes Dayton student-athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom and in the community.
Tyler Adgalanis, a senior on the men's cross country team, and
Sarah Sepanski, a senior on the track and field team, were honored as the 2018 Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award winners. The Presidential Scholar-Athlete honor is the most prestigious award presented at the annual OASSA Awards Reception and recognizes two student-athletes, one male and one female, who best demonstrate academic excellence, qualities of leadership, and service to the University of Dayton community.

Rebekkah Potter (softball),
Maggie Schutter (volleyball),
Rok Taneski (men's soccer), and
Caleb Wolters (men's golf).
Three other prominent awards were given out Monday night. The Rev. Charles L. Collins Outstanding Citizenship Award went to senior volleyball player
Maggie Schutter. Junior women's basketball player
Lauren Cannatelli was selected for the Ann E. Meyers Award of Excellence and senior women's soccer player
Alexis Kiehl was chosen for the Charles R. Kendall Memorial Award.
The women's tennis team was recognized with the OASSA Academic Cup, which is presented to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average combined over the 2017 spring and fall semesters. Women's tennis has earned the award for three consecutive years.
The awards reception also announced the Dayton All-Academic Team, featuring the student-athletes with the highest GPA on their individual teams. The 2018 All-Academic Team is comprised of

In total, the Flyers had 175 student-athletes recognized on the evening for achieving a 3.5 GPA or higher, including 31 with 4.0 GPAs.
