DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's soccer team and head coach
Dennis Currier has announced the addition of players to the roster for the 2018 season.
"Each of these young men all hail from good soccer backgrounds and have had success at the club and high school level," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "Additionally, they all embody what we look for in our student-athletes and have shown that they are good students and well-rounded individuals both on and off the field. We welcome these young men to the Dayton Flyer family and we look forward to the start of the Fall 2018 season."
Nolan Hutter, Midfielder, McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania
Hutter is a midfielder from Montour High School in Pennsylvania, where he has been a four-year varsity starter. He has earned All-State honors once, All-Conference honors three times, All-Section three times, and team MVP three times. He has served as the team captain the past two years, leading his team to the state semifinals in 2017 after winning the section and conference championships. Hutter also played club for Beadling Soccer Club, winning the Nike Cup Championship and reaching the state cup finals four times. He also competed for North United Soccer Club, finishing third at the Disney Soccer Showcase and winning both the Annandale Premier Cup and PA Classic.
Nick Woodard, Goalkeeper, Holland, Ohio
Woodard will join the Flyers after a stellar career at Springfield High School. With the Blue Devils, Woodard earned All-Northern Lakes League First Team honors in 2016 and 2017 while being named All-Northwest District Division I Second Team both year as well. The 6-3 goalkeeper was named BCSN TV Co-Goalkeeper of the Year twice, team MVP once, and NSCAA Ohio Player of the Week twice. He helped his team to sectional championships in 2014 and 2016 and played on a squad that had their best finish in school history in 2014, finishing as district runners-up. Woodard played club soccer for the Toledo Celtics.
Andrew Cross, Forward, Evansville, Ind.
Cross is a forward out of Evansville Reitz Memorial High School in Indiana, and will come to Dayton with numerous awards with the Tigers. In 2017, he was named All-City First Team, SIAC Conference First Team, Evansville Metro First Team, Indiana All-District First Team, and All-State First Team. Cross was named Metro Player of the Year, Indiana Player of the Year, and capped everything off with a NSCAA/USC All-American honor. This follows a 2016 season in which Cross set a school record with 37 goals, earning All-American and Gatorade Indiana HS Player of the Year accolades. He also ran track all four years as well. Cross finished his Evansville career with 95 goals, 45 assists, and 235 points.
A.J. Kirkby, Defender, Bartlett, Ill.
Kirkby is a 6-2 defender from South Elgin High School in Illinois where he was a two-time team captiain and MVP in 2017. He earned All-Conference honors both as a junior and senior and was Academic All-Conference three years. Kirkby also was named All-Sectional this past fall and was the Lake Park Tournament MVP as well. He played club soccer for the Chicago Inferno, who won the U.S. Club Regional Championship and were the NPL Finals runners up in 2016.

James Huff, Midfielder, North Canton, Ohio
Huff will become a Flyer after finishing up a successful career at Hoover High School in North Canton, Ohio. As a Viking, he earned Second Team All-Ohio, First Team All-County, and First Team All-District as a senior, while also being named Offensive Player of the Year, team MVP, and team captain. Huff also picked up all-county and all-district accolades as a junior as well. He played his club soccer for Team Challenger, which earned a bid for the National League.

Jacob Donaldson, Midfielder, Peachtree City, Ga.
Donaldson is the reigning Gatorade High School Player of the Year in the state of Georgia and a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American. The forward-midfielder hybrid was also the USC Georgia Player of the Year and 2017 DiVarsity AAAAA State Player of the Year. He earned All-State honors in 2016 and 2017 and was the regional and county player of the year as a junior. Donaldson scored 62 goals and recorded 35 assists through his junior season. He also led his team to a state championship in 2017 as well.
