KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of Dayton track and field team finished third in the team standings at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Flyers led the field after day one.
VCU won the team competition with 122.5 points, followed by George Mason with 102.5. The Flyers were third with 94 points. Richmond was fourth with 84 points and Duquesne rounded out the top five of 13 teams scoring.Â
DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS
•   Senior
Jenni Rossi was named the 2018 Most Outstanding Field Performer of the championship. She won individual titles in the weight throw and shot put. She had a PR in the shot put with her 15.11m, which is the third-best all-time at UD.
•   Junior
Taylor Vernot won gold in the 3,000-meter run with a PR time of 9:40.89, second-best all-time at Dayton.Â
•   Junior
Emily Borchers was third in the 3,000-meter run in a PR time of 9:47.15 and finished second in the mile in a PR time of 4:54.37; both performances are third-best all-time at UD.
DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS
•   Rossi was crowned the individual champion in the 2018 weight throw with a mark of 19.52m, which is fourth-best all-time at Dayton. The next competitor had a mark of 17.64m. Teammate
Alyssa Ramstetter, a junior, also made the podium with a PR mark of 17.33m for third place.
Taylor Flight came in fifth with a PR of 16.47m.
•   A week after breaking UD's mile record, junior Vernot broke Dayton's 5,000m record in a time of 16:40.21 for a third-place finish at the A-10 Championship. Vernot broke the record by more than 12 seconds. Senior
Nicole Steinbicker also picked up valuable points with a seventh-place finish in a PR time of 17:16.21, just 0.14 seconds off making it on the Top 5 all-time at UD. Senior
Emily Leonard took 10th in 17:27.57 and junior
Allison Triskett finished in a PR time of 17:34.02 for 11th place.
•   Senior
Grace McDonald ran the second-fastest time in UD program history in the 800-meter run in 2:13.95 to advance to the finals. Freshman
Emma Jankowski also made the finals in a PR time of 2:16.09, which is the fifth-best, all-time at UD.
•   Dayton's DMR made the podium with a third-place finish in a Top 5 UD time of 11:48.95. The relay included: Borchers,
Brittany Fisher,
Emma Jankowski, and
Chloe Flora.
•   Other PRs for the Flyers included:
Jahmia Bridges-Butler in the 60-meter dash in 7.92 and
Gabbie Johnson with a 26.04 in the 200-meter dash.
•   The Flyers had 12 PRs and five Top 5 performances on day one of the championships.
