DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team kicked off its spring 2018 schedule with a closed scrimmage against Michigan Saturday at Frericks Center. The teams split the day into two sessions, playing two independent sets in the morning and a best-of-five series in the afternoon.
Michigan took both sets of the morning session, 25-20 and 25-12, and narrowly edged Dayton, 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 25-19, 16-25, 15-12), in the five-set match played in the afternoon.
Trailing 2-1 heading into the fourth set, Dayton rattled off seven straight points to jump out 7-0 on Michigan. The Flyers took the fourth set to even the match and force a fifth frame. In the deciding set, The Flyers and Wolverines traded points and Michigan was able to reach eight points first as the teams switched sides. The final set seesawed back and forth but the Wolverines came out on top, 15-12, to win the match.

Dayton continues its spring schedule on April 7 at the Ohio Valley Volleyball Spring Tournament which will be played at Ohio Valley Volleyball Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
