DAYTON – University of Dayton men's basketball coach Anthony Grant has announced that Frankie Policelli, a 6-foot-8, 205 pound forward from New Hartford, N.Y., has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Dayton.

Policelli played his senior season at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y.  He was named Second Team All-New York by USA Today after averaging 12.2 points and 6.0 rebounds, while shooting 40 percent from three-point range and 86 percent from the line.  He helped Long Island Lutheran to a 22-3 overall record and a state-wide No. 1 ranking in Class AA.  LuHi won the SNY Invitational, was the runner-up in the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, and reached the New York State Federation Class AA final four.

As a junior at New Hartford High School, Policelli averaged 28.1 points and 13.0 rebounds until a knee injury cut the 2016-17 season short.

"We're excited to announce the addition of Frankie Policelli to our program," Grant said.  "Frankie will fit very well into the fabric of our campus and community. He is highly motivated to achieve success both as a student and an athlete.  As a player, he possesses a great combination of size, skill, and athleticism that will fit nicely into our style of play on both ends of the floor."

Policelli joins Dwayne Cohill and Jhery Matos as the first three Flyer recruits for 2018-19.  Cohill scored over 2,000 points for Holy Name High School in Cleveland and was named First Team Division II All-Ohio.  He signed in the fall.  Matos signed this spring, and was a junior college All-American for Monroe College in the Bronx.
