UD WOMEN'S GOLF HEADS TO THE BUTLER SPRING INVITATIONAL

The Dayton Flyers women’s golf team looks to capitalize on their early spring season success at the Butler Spring Invitational.

Dayton is coming off a spring break trip where UD participated in the Camel Invitational and a dual meet against Savannah College of Art and Design.

During the two spring events the Flyers rallied back to a fifth place finish at the Camel Invitational and lost a close match against SCAD.

Leading the way for UD at the Camel Invite were Clara Ang and Katie Dempsey who both tied for 13th at the event. Dempsey enjoyed a solid first round firing a 78, while Ang was one stroke away from her career-best with a 76 in the second round.

At the SCAD dual meet Julie Pouliquen shot a 79, while seniors Cari DeAngelis and Katie Gallagher each scored an 82 to lead the Flyer attack.

This will be the second consecutive season the Flyers will participate in the Butler Spring Invitational.

Last season the Flyers enjoyed tremendous success earning a second place team finish. Three Dayton Flyers finished in the Top 10 overall helping UD to a second place finish at the Butler Spring Invitational.

Dempsey and Pouliquen each tied for fourth, while Ang placed in a tie for eighth among individuals.

The 36-hole event will take place from the Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Ind.

Founded in 1974, Prestwick Country Club has tested many of Indiana’s top professional and amateur golfers. Prestwick enjoys a rich tournament history including the Indiana Men’s State Open, Indiana Women’s State Open, Indianapolis Open, Indiana State Amateur, Indiana Match Play Championship, and the Boy’s and Girl’s IHSAA State Championships.

This will be the third of five spring tournaments for UD.
