HOUSTON –
Three University of Dayton women’s cross country alumni and former head coach Ann Alyanak will compete in the Olympic Trials Marathon in Houston on Saturday for a chance to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Kara Storage ’03, Tara Storage ’03, Melissa Rittenhouse ‘99 and Alyanak (2004-10) will be four of over 200 women’s runners in Saturday’s trails, which begin at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.

Twins Kara and Tara Storage will both be representing Infinite Running and RUNOHIO Racing Team. Tara has the fastest qualifying marathon time between the four former Flyers at 2:40:14. Kara qualified with a 2:41:29 time.

Rittenhouse will run for Saucony with a qualifying time of 2:43:46. Alyanak – who led Dayton to its first women’s cross country conference title in 2009 – is also running for Saucony with a 2:41:53 qualifying time.

The event will determine the three men and three women who will represent the United States in the marathon at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. USA Track & Field and the Houston Marathon Committee will host the men’s and women’s Olympic Trials Marathon at the same site.
