GEORGETOWN 70, OHIO STATE 52

Seventh-seed Georgetown will play third-seeded Florida in the Minneapolis Regional on Friday. Game time was not available.

The attendance of today's game was 12,945.

For the first time since 1996 no Big Ten teams advanced to the Sweet 16.

With the win, Georgetown evens the all-time series against Ohio State at 2-2.

Georgetown Hoyas Notes

Georgetown has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the 10th time in school history. It is their first appearance since 2001.

The Hoyas are 40-21 all-time in NCAA Tournament play.

Head coach John Thompson III is 3-2 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, 2-0 at Georgetown.

Georgetown's record under Thompson is 31-6 when leading at the half.

The last time Georgetown beat a sixth-ranked team was March 02, 1996, a 106-68 decision against Villanova.

Sophomore center Roy Hibbert tallied his seventh double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

It was the only game this season where only four Georgetown players scored all the team's points.

Ohio State Buckeyes Notes

The Buckeyes are 32-18 in NCAA Tournament play.

Head coach Thad Matta's record at the University of Dayton Arena is 8-3.

Matta is 7-5 all-time in NCAA Tournament play.

The Buckeyes are 6-3 when trailing at the half this season.

The Buckeyes made five 3-pointers an now have 262 made on the year, breaking the school record of 259 established in Matta's first season at the helm.

Prior to Sunday, Ohio State had won its last five games at Dayton Arena.

The Buckeyes are 8-4 when scoring less then 70 points this season and 4-3 when their opponent scores 70 or more points.

Ohio State's 52 points ties its lowest point total of the season since scoring 52 against Indiana March 11 in the Big Ten Tournament Semifinal.
