POST-GAME QUOTES

Feb. 10, 2007

Recap |  Box Score

Dayton Coach Brian Gregory

"Sometimes stats lie. Marcus (Johnson) scored 13 points and had eight rebounds, and London (Warren) had 10 points and was four-for-five from the line. But what they did on the stat sheet really doesn't show what they did in the game. They were game changers. They came in and gave us a boost of energy when we needed it most."

"This was our third game in six days, and I think that had a little to do with our poor start. We didn't seem to have our legs under us. And maybe we tried too hard to get off to a good start. When St. Bonaventure came out playing well, we tried to force things too much. You can't do that. You have to take what they give you."

"From about 12 minutes left in the first half to the 10-minute mark in the second half, our defense was about as good as it's been on the road this year. Being active, challenging shots, rebounding...you name it, we did it. Our offense wasn't very good in the first half, but we got it going in the second half."

"One of the things we still need to work on is closing out opponents. We were up 10, and then we lost some of our focus, they scored four or five straight points and now our lead is cut to four. But give our guys credit. We recovered from that lull, and made enough winning basketball plays that we needed to make the long ride home a fun one."

"Today was probably the only game in the last month that Monty (Scott) has not played very well. Even so, he made probably the biggest basket of the game by knocking down that three when Brian (Roberts) hit him in the corner. That gave us a seven-point lead with two minutes to go. The fact that he had the confidence to step up and make that shot indicates how well he has been playing lately."

"We talked a couple of weeks ago that it is a ten-game season. We're now 3-1 in that ten-game season and have eight days before we play again. That break comes at a great time. We could use a couple of days off. We'll take one tomorrow, spend a couple of days concentrating on some things we need to work on, take another day off and then get ready for UMass on the 18th."
