HEBRON, Ky.  – Behind rounds of 71 and 70 from junior Matt Buse, the Dayton Flyers are in second place after the first two rounds of the Bearcat Invitational.

The Flyers are just three strokes back of Kentucky for the tournament lead. Dayton shot a team score of 283 in round one and a 290 in the second.

Last season Dayton placed in 12th at the same tournament.

Buse is one-under par for the tournament and tied for third among individuals. He had 27 pars in his first two rounds of play.

He wasn’t the only Flyer to start off strong at the tournament.

Senior Michael Oberschmidt is in a tie for eighth after carding a 72 in round one and a 71 in the second.

Junior Brenten Blakeman shot a one-under 70 in round one and added a 73 in the second round. Blakeman is tied with Oberschmidt for eighth as well.

Junior Sean Keating got off to a strong start as well shooting a 71 in the first round. He slipped back with a 77 in the second round, but he ended the day tied for 32nd.

Junior John Muir rounded out the scoring with a 76 and 75 in his first two rounds of play.

The third and final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 11 from the Traditions Golf Club in Hebron, Ky.
