CHARLOTTE, NC - The University of Dayton men's soccer team tied its second-straight Atlantic 10 opponent, 1-1, with a draw at Charlotte Sunday afternoon. Once again, it was Omar Jarun scoring the lone goal for the Flyers, just as on Friday versus Richmond. Nick Tarkany made five saves in net for UD.

The Flyers are now 6-4-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the Atlantic 10. Charlotte is now 5-6-1 overall, and 2-1-1 in the A-10.

Dayton came out to a 7-3 shots advantage in the first half, but 49ers' goalkeeper Tim Seibert made four first-half saves as the teams went to the break knotted at 0-0.

Jarun (Peachtree City, GA) scored his fifth of the season in the 52nd minute, an unassisted goal from about 20 yards out that hit the upper right corner post of the goal and then the ball bounced down and into the goal.

The Flyers drifted back on defense, as Charlotte tried to find the equalizer. The 49ers out-shot Dayton 8-3 in the second half, and finally pushed one by Tarkany (Miamisburg, OH) with just 4:56 remaining. Pete Palomino tallied his first goal of the year, off an assist from Kevin Fox.

In the overtimes, each team got off three shots, with all three of UD's on the frame. But Seibert was up to the task, with three of his eight saves coming in the overtimes. The Flyers controlled the second overtime, playing a man up after a red-card was issued in the 102nd minute to Charlotte's Coleman Hall.

Seibert finished with eight saves. Tarkany is now 1-2-2 in net for UD this season with a 1.06 Goals Against Average.

It was the first ever meeting between the 49ers and Flyers in men's soccer, as Charlotte joined the Atlantic 10 Conference July 1.

Next up for UD is a home match against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Friday at 7:30 at Baujan Field.
