DAYTON, Ohio - Freshman Caleb Lindemann scored his first two goals as Flyer and seniors Terry Alvino and Omar Jarun each added a goal as the University of Dayton men's soccer team romped over Xavier, 4-0, Friday night on Senior Night at Baujan Field. Jarun scored his eighth of the season, while Alvino added his fifth. Senior goalkeeper Nick Tarkany ran his shutout string to three-straight matches in goal.

The Flyers sit in third place at 4-1-2 in the Atlantic 10, 9-4-3 overall. Rhode Island (5-2-0 A-10) has the same win percentage. UD and Xavier (2-3-2 A-10, 3-10-3 overall) do not have A-10 games Sunday with the rest of the A-10 in action. Dayton can clinch a berth in the six-team Atlantic 10 Championship field with a win next weekend.

Alvino (St. Louis, MO) scored his fifth goal of the year by in the 38th minute after senior Dasan Robinson (Elyria, OH) was taken down in the box. Alvino's penalty kick went to the lower left side as Xavier keeper Adam Sokolowski guessed the other way. Sokolowski replaced starting keeper Liam Curran in the 30th minute after Curran collided with another player on a cross.

The Flyers exploded for three goals in the 2:39 in the second half to turn a 1-0 lead into a rout. First, Lindemann (Carmel, IN) headed in a cross from Jarun (Peachtree City, GA) at the 76:11 mark. Jarun sent the ball over the keeper from the end line, and Lindemann dropped to the ground to head the ball in from a yard off the goal line. It was Lindemann's first of the season, and first of his career.

A minute and 41 seconds later, Jarun took a restart and put the direct kick into the right side of the net from the top of the box for his eighth goal of the year. The goal ties Jarun for second in the Atlantic 10 Conference in goals. He's now third in points with 22.

Just under a minute later, Robinson came in on the right side and sent a cross to Lindemann, who knocked it home with his foot, to the right side of the net for his second goal of the match.

Tarkany made five saves in net and recorded his third-consecutive shutout. He has not allowed a goal in 294:05, and owns a 0.69 goals against average this season. The Flyers have shut out six opponents on the year, three by Tankany and three with fifth-year senior Steve Ladislaw (Philadelphia, PA) in net.

Senior Nate Darr (Centerville, OH) made a save on the goal line off a shot from XU's Jimmy Cummings in the 32nd minute to preserve what was then a scoreless game. It was Darr's second team save of the season for the All-Atlantic 10 defender.

Dayton has now won three in a row and is unbeaten in the last five matches (3-0-2). The Flyers finish with a home record of 6-1-1 on the season. UD ran the table at home last year (7-0-0) and is now 41-9-2 at Baujan Field since the start of the 2000 season.

The Flyers have a week off until next Friday's match at Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m, with live stats available on DaytonFlyers.com via Gametracker. UD wraps up the regular season Sunday, Nov. 6, at Temple at 1:00 p.m.
