DAYTON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton men’s soccer team (5-11, 4-2 A-10) shut out the Temple Owls (7-7, 3-2 A-10) 1-0, extending the Flyers’ winning streak to four straight.

“The match was a test of two wills and who was going to want it more. It was very intense and very physical,” Dayton Head Coach Dennis Currier said. “It was one of those games where you thought that one goal was going to win it. Luckily for us, Evan Mcreary got the first head on a free kick and (Greg) Enstone got a second head on it to score the goal.”

Freshman Greg Enstone tallied the lone goal of the match. Enstone buried the game-winner after receiving a pass from Evan McCreary in the 87th minute.

“Greg is a very physical player. We felt it was going to be his kind of game because of the physicality of the game. He got a late chance and was able to make the most of it,” Currier said.

McCreary has been a key part in Dayton’s four-game winning streak since returning from an injury in the offseason.

“Evan has played a huge role since returning from injury. He gained a lot through the air for us and his work rate is relentless,” Currier said.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alec Storm made four saves en route to his second consecutive shutout. Four of Dayton’s five wins have been in shutouts posted by the defense and Storm.

“We blocked a lot of shots in the match. Jack (Pearson) and (Jonathan) Nelson were a big part of shutting them down and keeping everything in front of us,” Currir said. “We won a lot of the balls in front of the box. Those two guys were a key part in our clean sheet today.”

Dayton travels to Saint Louis on Friday, Oct. 28 for an 8 p.m. ET matchup against the Billikens. UD will also face Charlotte on the road on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. ET.
