NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Dayton's Megan Campbell was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Volleyball Player of the Week, while Cecilia Aragao of VCU earned Defensive Player of the Week honors the league announced Tuesday. Rhode Island's Callan Kinnan claimed the A-10's Rookie of the Week award. The Conference announced all three awards, the first of the season, on Tuesday for matches played Aug. 30 – Sept. 1.

Campbell, a middle blocker from Versailles, Ohio, was named to the Dayton Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the Flyers to a 2-1 record and the tournament title. The senior averaged 3.25 kills/set and 4.12 points/set while hitting at a strong .420 clip. She recorded 15 kills and seven blocks in UD's win over Tulsa in the Flyers' season opener. Campbell also recorded four services aces and 12 total blocks for the weekend.

This is the sixth weekly honor for Campbell's career. She has previously been named Offensive Player of the Week twice and has earned three Defensive Player of the Week nods throughout her career.

The junior setter from Recife, Brazil, tallied double-digit digs in all three matches and had 19 total blocks. She had eight blocks versus Florida Gulf Coast and seven against IUPUI. Of her 36 total digs, Aragao recorded back-to-back 13-dig games against IUPUI and Illinois State to help the Rams finish the opening weekend 3-0.

Kinnan led all Atlantic 10 players with a league-best 11.11 assists per set throughout the opening weekend. The freshman recorded back-to-back double-doubles against New Hampshire (46 assists/14 digs) and Lehigh (36 assists/13 digs). She also averaged 3.33 digs per set, good for 10th in the conference.
