DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's basketball team took down Duquesne, 78-67, Sunday afternoon at UD Arena. With the win, Dayton improves to 11-4 overall and 2-1 in the Atlantic 10. Duquesne falls to 9-7 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic 10 with the loss. Senior
Andrea Hoover led the way for the Flyers as she put up a game-high 22 points and contributed five rebounds on the day as well.
Two other flyers contributed with double-digit scoring including senior
Ally Malott who had 15 points and junior
Amber Deane with 17 points. Sophomore
Saicha Grant-Allen grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while also chipping in eight points.
The Flyers rode the hot hand of Malott who had all nine of Dayton's points in the first five minutes of the game, shooting 3-3 from the field.
The game was evenly matched with a total of 10 ties and 13 lead changes. The Flyers were able to start to pull away from the Dukes with a 6-0 run to end the first half and went into the locker room up seven, 42-35.
Dayton leaned on its bench for 27 points to the Duquesne's 14 bench points.
UD held DUQ to 34 percent shooting from the field. Duquesne falls to 0-7 on the season when shooting under 40 percent.
The Dukes were led by Deva'Nyar Workman who recorded a double-double on the day with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
UD returns to action next Sunday, January 18 as the team travels to face St. Bonaventure in Olean, N.Y. Tip-off is at 5 p.m. ET and will be televised on NBCSN.
