WOMEN'S TENNIS SIGNS PADGETT FOR 2016-17

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's tennis team and head coach has announced the program's lone signee for the 2016-17 season, with Lauryn Padgett signing her National Letter of Intent to join the Flyers.

Padgett is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana where she has established herself as one of the top prep players in the state. She attends Carmel High School where her team has won the Indiana State Championship each of the past three seasons.

Individually, Padgett is ranked number two in Indiana, number 24 in the Midwest and is in the top 200 nationally.

Not only does she thrive on the court, but Padgett is an excellent student and community member as well. She has been named a scholar athlete each of her first three years of high school and has the top GPA on the team with a 4.6. She also volunteers her time with the Special Olympics and Gigi's Playhouse, a free service to children with Down syndrome.

Coach Ryan Meyer said of Lauryn, "I am very excited to add Lauryn to our program.  It was apparent early in the recruiting process how important both academics and athletics are to Lauryn and I believe that made her decision pretty easy.  She is a proven player and should have an immediate impact on our lineup."
