Jessica Sloan has earned the final Atlantic 10 Volleyball Player of the Week award as announced by the conference office Monday, Nov. 13.
VCU senior Rebekah Strange was named Defensive Player of the Week while Saint Louis freshman Maya Taylor was named the league's Rookie of the Week. All awards were for matches played Nov. 6 – 12.Â
Sloan recorded 4.00 kills per set for Dayton as the Flyers closed out the 2017 regular season with consecutive sweeps at George Washington and George Mason. The outside hitter from Marietta, Georgia, had seven kills, three blocks, three digs and three service aces Friday against the Colonials. On Saturday, Sloan tallied a match-high 17 kills to go with eight digs, two blocks and a service ace. For the weekend, she averaged 5.08 points, 1.83 digs and 0.83 blocks per set while hitting at .400.Â
Dayton is set to head to Pittsburgh this weekend for the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship. Second-seeded Dayton will match-up against the winner of Friday's quarterfinal contest between #3 Saint Louis and #6 George Washington on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. All matches will be played at Duquesne's A. J. Palumbo Center.
