FLYERS CLIPPED BY REDHAWKS 16-3

OXFORD, Ohio
– The University of Dayton Flyers lost an evening matchup to the Miami RedHawks 16-3 at McKie Field on Wednesday. Dayton falls to 10-15 on the season, while Miami improves to one game below .500.

Brian Blasik was 3-for-4 in the loss.  He had one double and drove in one run. Mitchell Nelson was 2-for-3, scoring one run and driving in one run. Catcher Dan Welch was 1-for-2 with one RBI and also caught one runner stealing.

Bryce Lahrman fell to 1-3 on a staff day by the Flyers. Lahrman had three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work, while allowing four runs. Matt Speckman, Tim Lynn, Willy Balbach, Ian Gardeck and Cole Tyrell also saw action on the hill.

UD was outhit 20 to 9, while both teams stranded 10 runners on base.

The RedHawks opened the scoring with six unanswered runs through the first three innings. Blasik drove home Tyrell on a base hit to centerfield in the fourth inning. Miami responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Welch’s base hit in the top of the sixth scored Nelson. In the top of the seventh, Nelson helped Zach Blanchette score on a single through the left side.

The Flyers resume Atlantic 10 play this weekend in a return trip to Philadelphia to face the Temple Owls. First pitch for the weekend is slated for 3:00 p.m. ET at Skip Wilson Field. Mike Ivcic will broadcast the weekend’s games live on 1660 Information Radio.
