• 2010 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Preseason All-Conference Teams

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The defending Atlantic 10 champion University of Dayton Flyers dominated the 2010 preseason women’s soccer All-Conference team, as selected by the league’s head coaches today.

Dayton had six players honored on the preseason poll, the most of any program. Charlotte followed with five selections.

The Flyers took three of the five defensive spots. Reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Year Katherine Boone was the choice at goalkeeper. Boone registered a league-high 13 shutouts while establishing an A-10 record for goals against average (0.41).  The Kirkland, Wash., native was tabbed a freshman All-American by Soccer America.

Junior defenders Kathleen Beljan and Kelsey Miller also represent Dayton on the 11-person preseason team. The duo helped the Flyer defense post a school-record 15 shutouts and a .406 GAA, second best in the nation. Beljan, of Hilliard, Ohio, was a First Team Atlantic 10 selection last year, while Miller, of Barrington, Ill., was a second team pick.

The 2009 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Colleen Williams also made the preseason team. Williams, a playmaking midfielder from Titusville, N.J., started all 23 games for the Flyers. She dished out nine assists, put away seven goals and led all A-10 freshmen in points and assists.

Juliana Libertin (Uniontown, Ohio) and Maggie Murname (Libertyville, Ill.) represent Dayton on the Atlantic 10 preseason All-Rookie team. Libertin, a midfielder, was a 2008 NSCAA All-American, while Murname, a forward, led her Eclipse Select North club squad to the 2009 national title.

The Flyers open the 2010 campaign with an exhibition match at home against Louisville on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. Admission is free to all regular season UD men’s and women’s soccer matches at Baujan Field.
