 DAYTON, Ohio. – Left-handed pitcher Cameron Hobson will return to Dayton for the 2011 baseball season after being drafted by the New York Yankees organization as a 37th round pick in the 2010 MLB Draft on June 10.  Players selected in the draft had until midnight on August 16 to decide if they were going to sign a professional contract or return to their respective schools.

Hobson spent the summer with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Code Baseball League, finishing with a 2.44 ERA and 27 skrikeouts through eight starts and nine appearances on the mound.

The Crawfordsville, Ind., native was the 2009 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year after tallying a then program-best 83 strikeouts in a single-season. In 2010, Hobson threw three complete games and had 68 strikeouts for UD. As a rising junior in 2010-11, Hobson has a career 4.58 ERA and an 11-6 record through two seasons for the red and blue.

In other Flyer baseball news, former catcher Cole Tyrell, selected in the 42nd round of this year’s draft, signed with the San Diego Padres organization and is currently playing for the Eugene Emeralds in the Class A Northwest League.
