DAYTON, Ohio – After a strong showing at the Oiler Opener in December, the University of Dayton track and field team resumes action this weekend in the BGSU Team Challenge hosted by Bowling Green State University on Saturday.

The BGSU Team Challenge is the team’s first scored event of the season. Last season, the Flyers captured second overall out of a 10-team field. UD athletes finished first in seven events at the meet.

Earlier this season, UD had two first-place finishes at the Oiler Opener. Senior thrower Mallory Barnes was first in the weight throw (66-02.50), while junior Courtney Siebenaller earned first in the pole vault (11-11.75). Additionally, senior thrower Kerry Allen set a new personal best in the weight throw with a distance of 62-03.00.

Last week, Barnes and Allen were highlighted in the USTFCCCA’s Preseason Rankings. Barnes is ranked 10th nationally in the weight throw, while Allen is 24th.
