DAYTON LEADS THE A-10 IN LATEST LEARFIELD STANDINGS

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Dayton Division of Athletics leads five schools from the Atlantic 10 Conference in the latest Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Standings as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) in April. The Flyers currently sit 76th overall with 152.00 total points. 

A total of 239 schools are ranked in the latest standings with the final Division I winter standings scheduled to be released on Thursday, April 21, 2011. The Flyers stand 15th among the 131 ranked institutions which do not field a football team in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).
 
Dayton added to its 100.00 points in the fall with points in women’s basketball and women’s indoor track and field during the winter season.  The Flyers women’s basketball team advanced to the NCAA Tournament, while Mallory Barnes repeated as an All-American at the NCAA Indoor Championships placing sixth in the weight throw competition. 
 
Temple (81st, 148.00), Xavier (111th, 100.00), Richmond (121st, 90.00) and Massachusetts (193rd, 25.00) round out the A-10’s representation in the first winter standings. 

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institutions finish in up to 20 sports – 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
