COLUMBUS, Ohio – The momentum for the Dayton Flyers rowers continued to build as UD’s top boats won convincingly at a four-team event featuring Ohio State, Michigan State and Cincinnati club teams.

At the O'Shaughnessy Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio, the Flyer Varsity 8 won their race by 24 seconds. UD defeated Michigan State, and Ohio State finishing with a time of 6:59.3.

Dayton’s Second Varsity 8 enjoyed a similar first place showing completing the race with a time of 7:24.7. UD won its race over Ohio State and Cincinnati by four-plus seconds.

In the Varsity 4, UD had a strong victory coming in with a time of 7:48.5. Michigan State was the next closest in at 8:02.8.

Dayton placed first and second in the Novice 8. Dayton’s A Novice 8 won the event with a time of 7:20.4, 29.5 seconds over Dayton’s B Novice 8. UC’s A and B Novice 8s came in with a time of 7:50.9 and 8:18.5, respectively. 

The only two events UD did not come in first were the Varsity 4 B/LWT and Novice 4. In both of those events, the Flyers placed in third. Dayton’s Varsity 4 B finished at 8:22.8 and the Novice 4 had a time of 8:39.1.

The final event of the 2010-11 season will take place at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta from May 13-14 in Philadelphia. The Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, with over 100 colleges and universities from the U.S. and Canada.
