TRACK IN SECOND PLACE HEADING INTO FINAL DAY OF A-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Courtney Siebenaller set a new meet record in the pole vault on Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C.
– The University of Dayton women’s track and field is nipping at the heels of the Charlotte 49ers heading into the final day of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Dayton trails Charlotte by just 4.5 points – 69.50 to 65.

Junior pole vaulter Courtney Siebenaller launched into A-10 record books setting a new Outdoor Championships record with a jump of 12-07.50 on Saturday. Pembroke Strickland took second with a jump of 11-07.75. Katrina Steinhauser tied for third with a mark of 11-01.75.

Emily Zimmerman set a new personal best in the 10,000 meters. Zimmerman finished second in a time of 35:30.32. Elissa Mason also set a personal best with a time of 35:59.31 for sixth place.

Senior Mallory Barnes placed first in the hammer throw. Barnes had a distance of 191-06. Kerry Allen was fifth in the event with a throw of 172-03.

Dayton fared well in the 4x800 relay. The team of Maureen Bulgrin, Lizzie Gleason, Liz Coorey and Ashley Cattran placed third with a time of 8:50.09.

Katie Nageotte and Cassie Grandstaff each qualified for the 100 meter dash finals. Nageotte had a time of 12.06 for the third-best time of the day. Grandstaff had the sixth-best time at 12.26.

Lindsey Cummings was eighth in the steeplechase. Cummings set a new personal best which stands as the second-best in school history after finishing in 11:00.75.

Freshman Maddi Schmidt qualified for the finals in the 100 meter hurdles. Schmidt finished with the eighth-best time of 14.85.

Freshman Britt Reid tied for sixth in the high jump after clearing 5-01.00.
Barnes was fifth in the discus throw. She had a distance of 142-06. Christine Borchers reached 136.00 for a seventh-place finish.

Renee Otte was seventh in the javelin. Otte scored two points for the Flyers when she hurled the javelin a distance of 117-06.

The Flyers resume action on Sunday at 8:45 a.m. The A-10 Championships will conclude with the closing ceremonies at 3:30 p.m.
