"Spike Out Bullying" registration information

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton volleyball team will now open its 2011 home schedule at UD Arena on Friday, Sept. 9 against Pepperdine during the 2011 Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic.

First serve between Dayton and Pepperdine will be at 11 a.m. ET, followed by Florida State and Michigan serving up at 2 p.m. ET at UD Arena. Dayton will then return to the Frericks Center on Friday for a 7 p.m. ET match with Florida State. 

The Saturday slate of matches will remain the same, with Dayton capping off the Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic against Michigan at 7 p.m. ET at the Frericks Center.

All four teams in the 2011 Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic received votes in the AVCA Preseason Top 25, led by No. 19 Dayton and T-No. 24 Michigan. Pepperdine and Florida State garnered votes outside of the top 25.

The move to UD Arena was made to accommodate the 1,000-plus elementary school students participating in the “Spike Out Bullying” event on Friday morning. Registration for the event is still open. Groups interested must contact Director of Volleyball Operations Jessica Yanz by email or phone (937-229-5632) to reserve a spot.

It will be the second consecutive year the Flyers have played a match at UD Arena after sweeping Charlotte on Nov. 7, 2010. The 2010 NCAA Volleyball Championship Regionals were also held at UD Arena last season.

The Flyers begin the 2011 season this Friday against North Dakota in the Green Bay/Country Inn & Suites Classic in Green Bay, Wis.
