THREE FLYERS GARNER CONFERENCE RECOGNITION

ST. LOUIS – Three University of Dayton men’s soccer players were honored by the Atlantic 10 for their achievements on and off the field this season. Senior Jack Pearson was tabbed A-10 Second Team All-Conference. Sophomore newcomer Abe Keller was picked to the A-10 All-Rookie Team and senior Michael Deyhle was selected as an All-Academic Team member.

One of Dayton’s most decorated defenders, Pearson was a four-year starter for the Flyers. In 2008 he earned Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Honors and a spot on College Soccer News All-America Freshman Third Team after UD won the A-10 Tournament Championship. Pearson continued to rack up honors from the A-10, earning an honorable mention in 2009 on the All-Conference Team and a spot on the A-10’s Second Team in 2010. He helped the defense post 29 shutouts during his career, and tallied seven game-winning goals for UD.

Deyhle, a member of the Academic All-Conference team, has been a key component of Dayton’s back four during his time at Dayton. Starting every match in 2010, Deyhle was tabbed to CoSIDA’s Academic All-District First Team. During his time with the Flyers, Dayton captured the 2008 A-10 Tournament Championship and the 2009 Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship. Deyhle has been a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s honor roll each of his first six times eligible. He has also been on the Dean’s list for the same time.

Keller was picked to the All-Rookie team after leading Dayton in points with 11 in 2011. He had one game-winning goal and was tied for fourth in the A-10 in assists for conference only games. Keller tied for the team-lead with three goals and was first with five assists.

Dayton finished the season 5-13-1 and 4-4-1 in the A-10. The Flyers graduate six student-athletes including Pearson and Deyhle.
