Vote For Colleen Williams

University of Dayton junior Colleen Williams was one of 32 of the nation’s top women’s college soccer players named a finalists for the Soccer News Net College Boot award, recognizing the women’s college player of the year.

The editors of each of the six sites in the Soccer News Net network nominated up to six local players for the award, each of which will be eligible for the regional player of the year award. The nominations included athletes playing at colleges within each site’s coverage area, as well as athletes from the area playing elsewhere in the country. Nine additional at-large selections rounded out the nominations.

Williams became the Flyers’ all-time leader in points with a goal 47 seconds into this year’s Atlantic 10 championship match against UMass, the first goal in her first collegiate hat trick, and went on to be named the Most Outstanding Player of the championship with four goals and three assists. Going into the NCAA tournament, she had 118 career points (41g, 36 a), and led the Flyers’ offense in 2011 with 16 goals and 15 assists. She was the Soccersavings.com/Philly Soccer News College Player of the Week once this season, for the week of August 21.

Dayton claimed its third consecutive Atlantic 10 Tournament title this year, and also appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year.

Fans from across the country will be able to vote for the top collegiate player. Voting for the women's College Boot began on Tuesday, November 15 and continue until December 15.
