FLYERS DOWN FAIRFIELD 56-49 IN THE OLD SPICE CLASSIC SEMIFINALS

Dayton will face Minnesota for the Old Spice Classic title on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Josh Parker scored 15 points off the bench to lead the Dayton Flyers to a 56-49 victory over the Fairfield Stags in the semifinals of the 2011 Old Spice Classic.

Dayton moves on to the championship game to face the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sunday, Nov. 27. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. ET and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.

Kevin Dillard added 12 points (all in the second half) and three steals, while Matt Kavanaugh recorded five points and 11 rebounds to help the Flyers improve to 4-1 overall. Kavanaugh has 13 offensive rebounds in the tournament's two games.

With UD leading 51-49 with 1:02 remaining, Dillard converted a three-point play to extend the Flyers lead.

Holding a five-point advantage with 31 seconds to go, Dayton forced three missed Fairfield shots to clinch the victory.

After opening the Old Spice Classic with an offensive explosion, defense was the focal point in the Fairfield contest.

Dayton held the Stags to 18 percent shooting from three-point range with Fairfield converting only 2-of-11 attempts. UD also forced 14 turnovers and had seven steals.

After being held scoreless in the Wake Forest contest, Parker went 5-for-10 from the field and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Josh Benson added nine points, while Chris Johnson and Paul Williams tallied five points apiece.
