STORRS, Conn. – The University of Dayton offense clicked in a 94-74 win over Buffalo Friday night at the Gampel Pavilion at UConn’s World Vision Classic.

Dayton improved to 2-2 with the help of a season-high 35 field goals made, 15 three-point field goals made, 26 assists and 15 steals. The 15 threes made, as well as the 42 attempts from behind the arc, are both UD program single-game records. The 15 converted treys is two better than the previous high of 13 the Flyers set last year against Minnesota on Nov. 21, 2010. The 42 attempts is 11 more than the previous UD record of 31 against St. John's in 2003.

The Bulls dropped to 2-3 overall.

Four Flyers scored in double figures and 10 reached the scoring column, led by senior Justine Raterman’s 20 points. Freshman Ally Malott had 18 points to go with her team-high eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. Freshman Andrea Hoover, who got her first collegiate start, added 13 points and junior Olivia Applewhite contributed 11 points and six rebounds.

Dayton put up 50 points in the first half after shooting 52 percent from the floor. The Flyers jumped to an 8-0 lead to start the game, but the Bulls went on a 13-4 run to take their first lead of the game, 13-12, with 12:11 to play. 

Buffalo’s largest lead of the half was 18-16, but Malott drained a three-pointer at 10:01 to give the Flyers the lead for good. Applewhite, Malott and Hoover hit back-to-back-to-back treys to build the UD lead to 28-18 with 8:28 left in the half.
UD held a commanding 50-34 lead at halftime.

Senior De’Sarae Chambers knocked down back-to-back threes to start the second half to give Dayton its largest lead of the game, a 22-point spread.

Buffalo got as close as 15 points but the Flyers continued to answer and knock down shots.

UD shot 45.5 percent (35-of-77) from the floor and 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the free throw line.

The Flyers face Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. ET at Gampel Pavilion.
