STORRS, Conn. – The University of Dayton (3-2) continued its balanced attack as 10 players scored for the Flyers, including four in double figures, in an 84-48 win over Fairleigh Dickinson (1-5) at UConn’s World Vision Classic at the Gampel Pavilion.

Sophomore Cassie Sant (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) tied her career high with a game-high 14 points. Junior Sam MacKay (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) and freshman Ally Malott (Middletown, Ohio/Madison) both added 13 points, while freshman Andrea Hoover (Bellbrook, Ohio/Spring Valley Academy) had 11 points, two assists, two steals and two blocks.

Junior Olivia Applewhite (Forestville, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) made the biggest contribution of the night on the boards, grabbing a career-high 18, including eight offensive rebounds. Applewhite’s 18 rebounds is the 11th best single-game rebounding effort in UD program history. She also notched a career-high five assists, which was also a game high. Applewhite also added eight points.

A day after UD broke the UD record for three-point field goals made in a single game (15 in Dayton’s 94-74 win over Buffalo), the Flyers sank 10 against the Knights. Hoover led the way with three treys.

The 48 points was the second-lowest UD has allowed this season (the lowest being their season-opening 69-38 win over Bowling Green).

Senior Justine Raterman and Hoover hit both of the Flyers’ first three-point field goal attempts to go up 6-2 early in the game and UD never trailed. In fact, 15 of Dayton’s first 19 points came on three-pointers, including consecutive makes by Malott, senior Patrice Lalor and Applewhite to give the Flyers a commanding 19-6 lead with 14:03 to play in the half. Dayton led 43-26 at the half.

UD held its biggest lead of the night – up 84-42 for a 42-point advantage after a pair of MacKay free throws with 3:36 to play in the game.

Up next for the Flyers is seven-time national champions UConn when they take on the Huskies Sunday, Nov. 27 at 4:30 p.m. ET at Gampel Pavilion in the final game of the World Vision Classic.  The game against Connecticut marks the 700th in Jim Jabir's head coaching career.
