Dayton Flyers

University of Dayton women’s basketball coach Jim Jabir has added Amber Deane (Lathrup Village, Mich.) to the Flyers' 2012-13 recruiting class.  The Detroit Country Day High School standout signed her National Letter of Intent Monday, April 16.

This Flyer class is ranked 1st nationally for a non-BCS school, 31st overall and 1st in the Atlantic 10.

Deane is a 3-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz and a 2011-12 Class B All-State First Team selection. She led Country Day to the 2012 MHSAA Region 12 Final Championship and averaged 19.1 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals per game as a senior.

She was named Honorable Mention AP Class B All-State as a junior and led DCD to two consecutive years with an undefeated regular season as a sophomore and junior. In addition, she helped DCD to a 2009 state championship.

She was named to the U.S. Junior Championships Indy 100 U-16 All-Star Team while playing for her AAU team Motor City Suns.

“Amber is a great person from a wonderful family," said Jabir. "She comes from a great high school and AAU program and her athleticism, ability and willingness to learn will make her a great Flyer.”

She joins UD's heralded list of 2012-13 signees: Kelley Austria (Beavercreek, Ohio), Morgan Berry (Brooklyn, Mich.), Lexi Carpenter (Woodbridge, Va.), French national player Jodie Cornelie, and Bre Elder (Lebanon, Ky.)
