INDIANAPOLIS, IN. - Freshman Justine Raterman's double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds led Dayton to a 69-49 win at Butler Friday evening. The Flyers improved to 2-2 with the win, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-2 overall.

Three other Flyers scored in double-figures for UD. Sophomore Kristin Daugherty finished with 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the line, junior Kendel Ross chipped in with 13, while freshman De'Sarae Chambers had a career-high 11 points on perfect 3-of-3 shooting from downtown.

Butler's Melanie Thornton had 18 points and eight rebounds in the game, while fellow teammate Lade Akande finished with 16 points and seven boards.

Dayton finished an impressive 8-of-11 from three-point range and went 23-of-47 from the field. The Flyers out-rebounded the Bulldogs 40-32, who shot a mere 29 percent in the game.

Dayton would start the first frame on a 9-0 run behind baskets from Kendel Ross, Justine Raterman, and Patrice Lalor.

Butler didn't get on board until right before the first media time out as Candace Jones made a trey at 16:03 to close the gap, 9-3.

After Daugherty hit a three with 14:45 to play, UD would go scoreless for nearly five minutes.

However, Ross would spark the Flyer offense with a lay-up under the basket at 9:15. Raterman would follow it up with shot from beyond the arc and then a wide-open lay-up to increase Dayton's lead 19-9 with 7:43 on the clock.

De'Sarae Chambers would also get on board contributing to the Flyer offense with back-to-back treys for a 27-12 advantage with 4:10 remaining.

The Flyers would take a 16 point lead into the break (33-17) as the team shot a strong 12-of-23 from the floor (52 percent). UD went 5-of-7 (71 percent) from three point range and 4-of-6 (67 percent) from the line, holding the Bulldogs to just 21.9 percent shooting from the field in the first half.

Butler came out strong in the second with two consecutive trey's from Terra Burns and Tara Miller. They continued the pace pulling to within 10 points after a bucket from Lade Akande at the 15:22 mark.

Nine points is as close as Butler would get as Dayton battled to keep the lead. Foul trouble hurt BU in the second, while it helped UD. The Flyers went 11-of-14 and held onto their lead winning 69-49.
