WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS La SALLE IN WBCA PINK ZONE GAME SATURDAY

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team is set to take on the La Salle Explorers on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. ET in the Flyers WBCA Pink Zone Game. UD will also be celebrating National Women in Sports Day and Alunnae Day prior to tip-off. Fans can follow the action with live stats, live audio, and FREE video streaming at www.DaytonFlyers.com.

The Flyers are joining the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in Saturday's game in an effort to raise cancer awareness. The coaches and staff for both teams will be wearing pink ribbons at the game as a part of a national effort organized by the WBCA.

The University of Dayton Division of Athletics will also host the 12th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day prior to tip-off. Fans have the opportunity to meet their favorite female Flyer student-athletes prior to the game, while taking part in interactive stations setup around the arena concourse. The festivities begin at noon.

Dayton will look to snap a two-game losing skid and continue its quest for a spot in the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship. If Dayton defeats La Salle, the team will clench a spot in the 12-team field for the A-10 Championship. Twelve of 14 teams will qualify to play in the conference tournament, which will be held March 6-9 in Charlotte.

Dayton (15-12) enters the clash with a 4-7 record in Atlantic 10 play after a loss to Richmond on Wednesday. Two Flyers reached double figures in scoring in the game as freshman Justine Raterman tallied the seventh double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) of her career to lead UD. Sophomore Kristin Daugherty chipped in with 11 points.

Raterman, who led all scorers, went 6-of-10 from the field, 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 2-for-2 from the line. Dayton blocked six more shots than Richmond in the game, however the Spiders dominated on the glass out-rebounding UD 51-32 overall and 22-5 on the offensive end.

SCOUTING La SALLE
The Explorers are riding a six-game losing streak and are coming off a 30 point loss to the nationally-ranked Xavier Musketeers on Wednesday. La Salle moved to 10-16 overall and 1-10 in the Atlantic 10 with the loss.

The team is led by Morgan Robertson who has tallied 10 double-doubles this season. Robertson averages 12.5 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game.

La Salle is averaging an A-10 best 6.5 three-point baskets per game, which also ranks 39th in the country. Collectively, the team has hit 170 treys this season. The Explorers are also leading the league (10th in the country) in free throw shooting percentage at 76 percent (264-of-346).

La Salle is coached by Tom Lochner who is in his fifth season as head coach. He holds a 64-77 record overall.

SERIES STUFF
La Salle leads the series 15-11 but has lost the last three-straight meetings. The last time out the Flyers defeated the Explorers on the road, 43-45, on Jan. 16, 2008.

The University of Dayton women's basketball team will be signing autographs in the arena concourse after Saturday's game.

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES FOR SALE
Local Girl Scout troops will be selling cookies in the arena concourse prior to tip-off of Saturday's game. Cookies cost $3 a box.

Dayton will travel to Rhode Island for its final regular season road game. The Flyers will visit the Rams on Thursday, Feb. 26. The game is slated for 7 p.m. ET and can be followed with live stats at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
