Leading UD will be preseason first-team all-conference selection Chris Wright, who averaged a team-high 13.3 points and 6.6 rebounds a year ago. The junior forward is among 50 preseason candidates for the John R. Wooden Award and Dayton boasts a 41-10 record with Wright in the lineup. Senior guard Marcus Johnson (11.8 ppg.) is a preseason second-team selection, while senior guard London Warren (4.1 ppg.) is on the preseason All-Defensive Team.

The University of Dayton women's basketball team was selected to finish tied for third in the 2009-10 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Preseason Poll. The Flyers also tied a league-high with three players named to preseason teams.

The Flyers return all five starters and the top seven scorers from the 2008-09 team that posted a 21-14 overall record, and made its third-ever and second consecutive postseason appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

Junior Kristin Daugherty and sophomore Justine Raterman were both named Second Team Atlantic 10 Preseason selections, while sophomore Casey Nance was tabbed to the A-10 Preseason Defensive Team.
